The Low-Down on Todd:

Todd discovered endurance running as an adult after first spending time hiking and then running on trails. After several shorter trail races, he signed up for his first ultra, a 50K, and was immediately hooked. He later completed his first 100-miler and, while he crossed the finish line, he recognized that long-term success in the sport would require more than a DIY approach. That realization led him to join Without Limits Charleston as an athlete.

Since then, Todd has completed 11 100-mile ultramarathons along with numerous other ultra-distance events, finishing every 100-miler without a DNF and staying free of major injury. His coaching philosophy is shaped by both lived experience and formal education.

Todd holds certifications as a USATF Level 1 Coach, USATF Marathon Specialist, UESCA Ultrarunning Coach, and USA Triathlon Level 1 Coach. His approach is grounded in evidence-based training principles with a strong emphasis on durability, mobility, recovery, and long-term development. He believes performance is built through consistent, sustainable work over time and that mental resilience can be trained just like aerobic capacity or strength.

He works with youth, road, trail, ultra, and triathlon athletes who are committed to steady progression and lasting improvement.

What are your favorite races or events?

Even if he won’t always admit it during a brutal climb, Todd loves 100-milers. He’s drawn to the long-game strategy, mid-race problem solving, and the controlled chaos that unfolds over 24+ hours. Most surprising: he genuinely enjoys running at night.

What was your defining moment as an athlete or coach?

Finishing 2nd Overall at the 2024 Blood Rock 100. Training in a flat, coastal environment doesn’t naturally prepare you for steep, technical terrain and sub-freezing temperatures but disciplined preparation and intelligent coaching closed that gap.

What are your favorite non-running activities?

Todd enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters—who are also Without Limits athletes. He practices yoga and meditation, loves reading and learning about longevity and training science, and serves on the board of Empowered Minds, a nonprofit bringing yoga and mindfulness into Charleston schools.
