August has been HOT and so have our incredible athletes! WOL Wilmington had a great turnout for big races near and far. Congratulations to everyone who raced new PRs, new challenges and new adventures.
Huntington’s Disease International Triathlon, Florida
Ilene Schnall brought home hardware with a podium finish. Taking the plunge and signing up for IMLOU this was a great way to shake off the summer heat and race hard and strong. Way to go Rockstar!
Race the Train
Nick Monroe improved tremendously with a new 9 minute PR. Awesome job man. You defeated the elevation gain, the rain, and the tough course. What a difference a year of teamwork and training can make! Congrats on a killer job.
Lake Logan Event Weekend
We had an incredible team of WOL athletes who raced strong, secured new PRs and top finishes! It was a beautiful weekend filled with lots of smiles and fun!
Half TRI
Congratulations to Susan Shafer on her Half Finish on her first triathlon back since her neck surgery. The Comeback Kid is BACK and gaining momentum for the remainder of the year!! Super impressive Susan with a huge course PR. Coach Aaron came out of the swim in 114th place but pushed hard and took 14th place overall with a new PR of 4:43!!!!! Incredible race Aaron.
Coach Brian secured 28th place overall with an awesome time of 4:55. Nice work boys.
International TRI
Coach Matt Wisty taking it home with the win after his Birthday. Way to hold off a 2:13 marathoner! Harrison Brown took 6th overall behind a solid field. Keep up the improvements Harrison! Lesly Jurado went SUB 3 hours and ranked top 10 in all 4 aspects of the sport within her AG. Amazing job and well deserved. Amy Kolk raced strong and did fantastic at a hard hilly course. You’ve been training well and it showed with your performance. Congrats! Lisa Kerr took 2nd in her AG with a huge PR on this beautiful course. And her buddy Holly Cunningham had a huge PR in a super tough AG (we older ladies can be tough). It’s always fun to race with friends, for fun and be fast and fierce! Way to go girls.
Beth Brampton raced a new 19 minute PR and took 1st place in her AG, breaking 4 hours!!! Way to race this course and do so well. Proud of you BB. Jennie Mott took home a new 24 minute PR and also 1st place in Athena’s. She also broke 4 hours!!! You are ready for Maine and have really been training hard. Huge props. Cate Piech raced hard on the hills! Gearing up for an international at WL and the IMNC 70.3.
Wild Billy Loyd is fearless and brought home some hardware for 2nd AG!!! Way to go Rockstar on a fantastic Day!
THE DOUBLE!
What do you say to someone who starts triathlon training in February, signs up for an Ironman and takes on the Double. Completing the Lake Logan Half Aquabike and then doing the sprint the very next day, Michael Jones, is absolutely awesome!!! Welcome to the tribe and so glad you found us!! Congratulations on an awesome weekend and more fun to come in 2017!

Congratulations to Kelly White for taking 5th in his AG in a huge race. Swimming in 57 degree water, biking straight up and down black diamonds and running and epically hard race. (9,200-9,800′) You are awesome!
Culpeper International in the Virginia Series
Jamie Ash took 8th overall and 2nd in her AG prepping for 70.3 Worlds. This included an accidental penalty. Jamie has made drastic improvements while serving in our armed forces! You are inspiring and so very strong.
USAT Nationals, Omaha, NE
Congratulations to Lowell Gould on completing the challenge of the Double (both the Olympic and the Sprint). His first time ever qualifying for Nationals and he set out to enjoy the day. Lowell, we can’t wait to hear a Race Report and Congrats Rockstar!
Blue Mountain Sizzler 5K
Nick Monroe jumps into a friends 5K and ends with an incredible time of 24:02 and finished 8th overall and 2nd in his age group! One of his best 5K times. Nice work Nick.
SwimRun USA Casco Bay
Jack and Eileen finished the short course strong and ready for round 2. They did awesome and worked well together. Congrats guys on a fun adventure and finish.
Lindsay and Cameron finished the long course with a smile on their face. This was a tough course and the tides/wind made it challenging. These two did a killer job and finished strong.
Jose and Paul finished the long course very strong and placed top 25 overall. These two clicked very well together and they pushed hard the whole way. Nice work you two.
Sarah and Coach Kristen were able to snag 2nd overall female team out of about 40 teams. It was Sarah’s first swimrun and she crushed it. These two worked well from the start and were able to hold off a bunch of teams. Congrats ladies.
Bike Fest 100 Miler
Lauren Stephenson, WELCOME to the 100 mile club. Huge shout out to Lauren as she completed the 100 miler. So proud of your accomplishments and all the hard training you’ve put in for your Ironman. Congrats on finishing the race and making it to the club.
Melanie Meadows, WELCOME TO THE CENTURY CLUB. While we are supported by teammates here in Wilmington, NC, Melanie took on the task of completing Ironman training in Raleigh doing most of her rides solo. She met the team in Hillsborourh and completed her first 100 miler!! IMLou is waiting for you. With a bit more work and training, it promises to be an epic day!! YOU ROCK
Century Club!!
The WOL Unofficial Century Club welcomed another member, Lynda Smith, who has been joining her training buddies for all of their rides. YOU DID IT!! Lynda completed her first 100 miler in the blazin heat of the summer!! Awesome job!!

Congrats to Deborah Dotson on a 9 min sprint PR!!! 9 min!!!! Huge for a marathoner who is taking up tris for fun! What an awesome day and now we’ll resume our regularly scheduled programming!!!
